LONE TREES
The exhibited series explores the quiet presence of individual trees in expansive, minimalist landscapes – often in combination with powerful celestial structures and atmospheric cloud formations. The trees become archaic forms, figures, and emotional anchors. The focus is less on the tree itself and more on the interplay of space, light, and reduction. In these compositions, trees become protagonists: symbols of tranquility, clarity, and steadfastness. Through deliberately employed emptiness, harmonious color palettes, and precise lighting, pictorial spaces emerge that are minimalist yet simultaneously possess a powerful, sometimes emotional, impact.
Kathrin Federer combines real-world motifs with digitally conceived elements, clear forms, and calm, minimalist color palettes. Her works move between reality and conceptual art – each image follows a clear internal logic in which balance, form, rhythm, and mood merge into an aesthetic narrative.
The series invites us to see nature as a designed bearer of meaning: not as a mere representation, but as a visual language and an emotionally resonant, clearly composed space for reflection. It's about reduction, precision, atmosphere – and about the question of how little or how much an image needs to have a profound impact.

ABOUT

Kathrin Federer
is a Swiss digital artist and visual storyteller whose work exists at the intersection of reality and conceptual art. Her style is characterized by reduced color schemes, clean lines, powerful lighting, and a precise perception of form. She creates visual spaces that evoke tranquility, depth, and a dense atmospheric tension. Each composition follows a clear concept: elements are not placed randomly, but rather positioned to convey meaning, rhythm, or emotional impact. For her work, she combines photography with digital design techniques such as 3D elements, gradients, vectors, and precise lighting.
Her works have been exhibited internationally and are part of both private and public collections. In addition to her artistic practice, she offers fine art prints, creative assets, and workshops through her website and runs her own creative business. As an Adobe Community Expert, Skylum Ambassador, and former ColorPro judge, she shares her knowledge of modern digital image creation and visual storytelling internationally – with a particular focus on reduction, light, harmony, and composition.
At the heart of their work is the process itself: developing ideas, abstracting motifs and weaving them into powerful, clear and cleanly designed visual worlds.
